I don't have a picture of my ancestor John B Bishop but I do have a post card he wrote to his mother 3 days before he sailed. I have typed out the hard-to-read cursive he used. The postage stamp disapeared long ago.

Post Card from John mailed to his mother 4 days before he died.

Mrs. S J (Sarah Jane) Bishop,

Far away now but I think I will see you all inside of 2 years. But can’t tell. Just live in hopes and if I get killed your Nat boy (older brother Nathan) will draw $57.00 and a half a month for 20 years.
Tell Lilly (sister) I will write to her when I get across.

From your home sick son far away,

John B. (Baker) Bishop
