My Grandfather was Joseph Jake Marsolek, he was in the 107th supply train truck company B. He was a survivor and used to go to survivor meetings. My Grandfather changed our family name to Marshall after the First World War. His son my uncle, Raymond Joseph Marshall was also torpedoed in 1944 April on the ship SS Churubusco do you have any info on that as he never knew if there were any other survivors he is 82. I am his niece and am very proud to be related to these 2 wonderful men.

My father Joseph Jake Marsolek had just finished 12 weeks of basic training at Camp MacArthur in Waco, Texas. He and other farm boys from Independence, Wisconsin enlisted together and were shipped overseas together. With only an 8th grade education, the Army looked better than staying on the farm.
