SURVIVOR OF TWO TORPEDOINGS WEDS
Radio Man of
Jacob Jones and Tuscania Here
New
York, February 27- Edwin J. Britt, of Brooklyn, wireless operator, who
survived the Jacob Jones and the Tuscania, was married yesterday to Miss
Edna Taylor of 649 sixteenth Street, Brooklyn, in the Municipal Building
chapel. Deputy City Clerk, John K. Dalton of Richmond Borough, performed the
ceremony.
Within
the short space of eight weeks Britt has figured in the two notable American
sea disasters of the war. He was the wireless operator aboard the Jacob
Jones when that destroyer was torpedoed December 6, 1917. He took a similar
position aboard the Tuscania and has been home, but a few days since that
chill experience.
Britt's
commanding officer aboard the Jacob Jones, Commander David Worth Bagley,
obtained a license to wed a week ago. The young operator said yesterday he
expects to start to sea again in about 10 days and take another chance with
the submarine. His home is in 4224 Fifth Ave., Brooklyn.
