The 32nd Division was organized at Camp MacArthur, Waco, Texas, and contained the National Guard of Wisconsin and Michigan. The first Commander was Major General James Parker until Sept. 19, 1917, he was succeeded by Brigadier General William G. Haan who continued in command until the war ended. The overseas movement of the 32nd Division occurred between January 19, 1918 and March 12, 1918 when the last unit reached France. The 32nd Division was the only National Guard Division detailed to the "Army of Occupation" on the Rhine. The 32nd Division captured 2153 German Prisoners. The 32nd Division was quiet 60 days and active 35 days, it advanced 36 kilometers into enemy territory. The 32nd Division had 2,915 battle deaths, and had 10,477 wounded. They suffered a total casualties count of 13,392 soldiers and had 20,140 replacements. Left Germany, homeward bound in April 1919, arrived in the United States and demobilized in May 1919 Camp Custer, Michigan.
